3 Fatal Crashes Across NC, 2 Head-On Accidents

The Charlotte Observer reports that three people were hurt in a head-on collision on December 3 in Alexander County North Carolina when a fender-bender caused a Toyota to veer across the centerline and into an oncoming vehicle. The accident took place near Hiddenite, NC. A woman and her child where seriously injured while the driver of the oncoming vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the third car that caused the accident was not hurt. He said that glare from the sun made it difficult to see the traffic ahead of him.

Local news reports cited another fatal accident in Kinston, NC. In this case, Byron Brown of Grifton, North Carolina, was driving a motorized bike on NC 11 when he crashed with a pickup truck at the intersection of Braxton Road. The moped accident closed the highway for three hours. The victim was wearing a helmet.

In a third deadly accident, a driver was killed and three passengers were hurt. This car accident happened on NC Highway 74 east of Monroe, NC. Officers said Franci Dunderdale was driving the wrong way in the westbound lanes and hit another car head-on. The driver of the second car was killed, while two passengers were hurt. Dunderdale was taken to the hospital but has since been released. Police reported that the accident was caused by a medical condition that Dunderdale suffers from - the district attorney will be responsible in deciding whether or not charges will be filed in this case.
