With so many recalls developing and affecting different makes, models, and parts of cars, it is usually a complicated process for an individual to research which recalls affect their specific vehicle.

If you are concerned about recalls and your safety, there is a new auto recall search tool that will be available in the fall of 2014. Automobile and motorcycle manufacturers will soon be required to use a new simple system for consumers to search if their vehicle has recalls. This federal requirement is being imposed by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The system is being designed to match recalls with Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs).

Not only will the new auto recall feature determine what existing recalls affect the particular car or motorcycle unique to its own VIN, the search will also display whether or not corrective mechanical work has already been complete or if the vehicle owner needs to take action.

This can help current vehicle owners verify if their VINs display accurate information, so that when they are ready to sell or trade-in their car they can show necessary repairs were satisfied. Additionally, the search can help buyers research the specific vehicle they intend to purchase. The more buyers and vehicle owners who push toward correcting recalled parts or safety features will hopefully help prevent car accidents in North Carolina and around the country.

For the time being, the car accident attorneys in Raleigh, Fayetteville, and Dunn with Brent Adams & Associates will continue posting recall information here, on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. Please connect with us and let us know if you or those you care for have suffered an injury or loss that was a result of a negligent auto manufacturer.
