Bladen County Infant Killed in North Carolina Dog Attack
Posted on Sep 20, 2011
A 9-day-old baby girl living in Clarkton, North Carolina, was killed by at least one dog in her Bladen County home on Tuesday, August 30. Police and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the fatal NC dog attack to determine which dogs were responsible for the mauling, as well as whether or not charges will be filed.
According to the Bladen County Sheriff's Office, Addyson Paige Camerino was found seriously injured on the kitchen floor in a home in which five dogs were present, including a Pit Bull and a Rottweiler. Emergency responders rushed the infant girl to Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown, but she soon died from what medical professionals say were clearly dog bite wounds.
Officials have determined that the baby and mother lived with the father's brothers and a number of dogs. The baby's father was in Cumberland County Jail during the incident. Neighbors report that the young couple and the family are in shock.
All five dogs have been removed from the home, though which dogs participated in the attack and the fate of the dogs is not yet known. The District Attorney hopes that further investigation will shed light on the dog attack, which was allegedly not witnessed by the home's occupants.
The Raleigh dog bite lawyers at Brent Adams & Associates offer our sincere condolences to the family of Addyson Paige Camerino.
