Wreck On N.C. 87 Claims Life Of Teen


A 16-year-old boy was killed Monday night when he was thrown from a car on N.C. 87 after it collided with another vehicle.


The accident occurred at the Nursery Road intersection, according to spokeswoman at Fort Bragg.


The accident was investigated by Military police. The intersection is off post, but the military reservation property is adjacent to the highway.


The names of the drivers were not released.


A passenger, Tyler Wilber, was in the backseat of the vehicle that was hit by another vehicle as it was making a U-turn on the highway. The impact caused the vehicle; Wilber was a passenger in to hit a car that was stopped for a traffic signal.


Wilber was thrown from the vehicle he was riding in, onto the top of another vehicle that was stopped at the intersection.


Wilber was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.


Attempts were made by bystanders to perform CPR on Wilber.
