Work Requirements for SSD Insurance in North Carolina
There are requirements that must be met in order to qualify for Social Security disability insurance (SSDI). To learn more about the requirements and to determine if you are eligible, contact a Dunn Social Security disability attorney to discuss your case.
One of the requirements pertains to your employment history. You must have worked recently and long enough to pay into Social Security taxes.
This is based on the number of work credits you have earned, with the ability to earn up to four credits per year. These credits are dependent on your self-employment income or total yearly income.
Each year the amount required to earn a credit changes. For the year 2012, you will earn a credit for each $1,130 of income. Once you reach earnings of $4,520, you have met your four-credit requirement.
The number of work credits required to receive SSDI will depend on your age. You can usually expect that 40 credits will be necessary to qualify. However, 20 credits would need to have been earned in the last decade, ending with the year of your disability.
This can become complicated, so the best thing is to seek legal counsel. An attorney can help explain all of the SSD insurance qualifications that must be met.
