On the evening of April 6, a North Carolina man suffered fatal personal injuries in a crash on northbound Interstate 77 in Carroll County, Virginia.
According to Virginia State Police, 52-year-old Mebane resident Terry Vaughn Black was driving at a high rate of speed in a 1998 Jeep Cherokee when he came upon several tractor-trailers. He lost control of the vehicle, which overturned multiple times, and was ejected.
Police say Black was apparently attempting to pass the slower vehicles at the time of the crash. He died at the scene.
Troopers say Black was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt.
