Two people suffered personal injuries in a head-on collision on N.C. 97 near N.C. 231 on the morning of July 16.
According to Trooper C.T. Williams of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Spring Hope resident Franklin Joseph Anderson was eastbound on 97 shortly after 10 a.m. when he crossed the centerline and collided with a vehicle driven by Rocky Mount resident Michael Scott Pearce.
Williams said that the 1994 Dodge truck Anderson was driving spun around and came to rest facing north. The 1983 Ford Pearce was driving ran off the road to the right and came to rest facing south.
Neither suffered injuries that were considered life-threatening, but Anderson received transport to WakeMed.
Police charged Anderson with driving left of center.
