According to local news reports, a Ford Explorer was hit by a Durham train and two young brothers - a 9-year-old and 6-year-old - were thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened near the intersection of Ellis Road and Angier Avenue in Durham. A neighor who lives near the tracks explained the conductor blew the whistle prior to the impact. She stated she will never forget hearing the mother screaming as she ran toward the crossing. The mother was transported to Duke Hospital for treatment and the names of the victims were not released.
