Hospitals in the Greater Raleigh Area Receive 'A' Ratings

north carolina hospital safetyEach year non-profit organization Leapfrog compiles a report of hospitals and assigns each one a Hospital Safety Score. Many healthcare facilities around the Triangle received 'A' ratings.

Among the hospitals in Raleigh and the greater-Triangle area, those that were A-rated include:

  • Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford
  • Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh
  • Duke University Hospital in Durham
  • Rex Hospital in Raleigh (The only hospital in North Carolina to receive an A-rating three years in a row.)

The 'A' rating is granted to hospitals that have low reports of medical errors and that employ procedures that help prevent patient harm. Search for your hospital in North Carolina to see how it ranks. The rating comes on the heels of Business NC's report of North Carolina's Best Hospitals, a study that named Rex Hospital #1 in the state.

Pinehurst's FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital received a 'B' rating, although this facility recently ranked in a separate report as one of only three hospitals in North Carolina to receive a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
