Authorities say a teenager sustained life-threatening personal injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Smithfield on the evening of December 17.
Smithfield Police Sgt. L.R. Capps said the 15-year-old male, whose identity was not immediately made available, was crossing U.S. 301 South near the intersection with Gallee Road shortly before 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a car. He received transport to WakeMed with injuries considered to be life-threatening.
The accident remains under investigation.
