A traffic accident on Interstate 85 North in north Charlotte resulted in a driver suffering severe personal injuries on the afternoon of June 7.

 

The accident took place shortly before 2:30 p.m., just north of the West Sugar Creek exit on I-85.

 

The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the driver of a maroon-colored sport utility vehicle lost control of the SUV, which collided head-on with the concrete barrier.

 

A state trooper said the SUV overturned twice and the driver became trapped inside.

 

MEDIC said that the driver received transport to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with injuries that were considered to be life-threatening.
