Seven students and a driver from a Bunn Middle School activity bus received transport to WakeMed on Friday as a precaution for the personal injuries they sustained in a wreck on December 11, according to Bill Crabtree of the Wake Forest Police Department.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Capital Boulevard and Stadium Drive in Wake Forest shortly after 11:30 a.m. Police said the driver of a tractor-trailer said his brakes failed and he swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision, but side-swiped the bus and another vehicle.

The 28 uninjured students were taken home by another bus after parents were contacted.

Police said any injuries to the seven students that received hospital transport were believed to be minor.
