A personal injury suit filed by a man in California who sustained a puncture wound to his foot after he stepped on a metal spike was recently settled for $1,350,000.

The man was contracted to do maintenance on a sump pump in a submerged portion of a sulfur pit where the accident occurred. The man, who was not wearing safety boots, stepped on a submerged snap-tie that had been left behind from a nearby construction project.

The client suffered from the disabling condition of diabetes and the personal injury and resulting infection meant that he had a possibility of amputation below the knee.
