How Do Bus Accident Claims Work in Fuquay-Varina, NC?

When a public school bus is involved, the claims process can differ from an ordinary car accident case. North Carolina has specific procedures for certain claims involving negligence by public school bus drivers and other school transportation employees.
Under those rules, some claims involving a county or city board of education and a public school bus may go through the North Carolina Industrial Commission rather than a traditional lawsuit in court. The proper process depends on the circumstances surrounding the crash.
If another driver, vehicle owner, or other party contributed to the collision, additional insurance claims may also be available. Determining which claims apply requires reviewing how the crash occurred and identifying each party that may share responsibility.
In addition, compensation may include emergency treatment, hospital bills, follow-up care, rehabilitation, medication, and other necessary medical expenses. An injured person may also seek compensation for wages lost during recovery and other financial losses caused by the crash.
Because these claims can involve different rules and possible sources of compensation, a bus accident lawyer can review the circumstances, identify the proper claim process, and explain what compensation may be available.
