Safety Tips for Restaurant Workers

The National Restaurant Association found more than 1 million restaurants in the United States with 14.7 million employees, which is 10% of America's workforce. Farmers Insurance found these restaurant statistics:

  • 25% of workers compensation claims are made by restaurant workers
  • 26% of restaurant workers' compensation claims are made during the summer months
  • 27% of the claims made during the summer is because of cut, puncture, and scrape claims

Farmers Insurance wants to provide these tips in order to keep restaurant owners and employees safe:

  • Make sure all cutting boards are slip free
  • Ensure employees have been properly trained so they cut and chop food correctly to avoid injury
  • Make sure the correct knives are being used for the right job
