Who Can Be Held Liable for a Shuttle Bus Crash in Raleigh, NC?

When a shuttle driver causes a collision while working, the driver’s employer may also be responsible for resulting injuries. This can make the claim different from a typical crash involving two privately owned vehicles.
If another motorist caused the collision, that driver may instead be responsible for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and other qualifying losses. Insurance coverage can also affect how much compensation may be available.
Under North Carolina’s contributory negligence rule, an injured person may be prevented from recovering damages if they are found partly responsible for causing the crash. For that reason, disputed fault can become a major issue during a claim.
After a shuttle bus accident, useful documentation may include the crash report, photographs, medical records, insurance information, and any available video. These materials can help show how the collision happened and the losses connected to an injury.
If the shuttle is connected to a government agency or public entity, different notice requirements or filing rules may apply. These claims can involve procedures that do not arise in an ordinary private vehicle accident.
When several parties or insurance companies may share responsibility, a Raleigh bus accident lawyer can identify who operated the shuttle, determine which policies may apply, and handle disputes over fault.
