Police arrested a man from Raleigh on July 11 after he allegedly struck a bicyclist with his vehicle, resulting in personal injuries, yelled at the cyclist for wrecking his car, then drove off.
According to an arrest warrant filed in the Wake County Magistrate’s Office on July 12, 35-year-old Lesley Covington faces one could of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of felony hit-and-run causing serious injury.
Raleigh police say that Covington hit Pedro Lopez-Espinoza, who was riding his bike at the time. Covington stopped and exited his vehicle, saying to Lopez-Espinoza, “You wrecked my car.” He then got back into his car and drove off.
Covington posted $2,000 bail on July 12 and was released from Wake County jail.
