Proctorville Mayor Killed In Robeson County Collision
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported on May 19 that the mayor of Proctorville suffered fatal personal injuries in a crash in Robeson County on the night of May 18.
According to the accident report filed by Trooper J.S. Ransom, 70-year-old Horace Biggs Johnson died in a two-vehicle collision that took place shortly before 7 p.m.
Election officials say that Johnson was re-elected as mayor of Proctorville, which is a small town of about 130 residents, in 2009.
The report said that Johnson was northbound on Broadridge Road, approximately three miles from Proctorville, when he ran a stop sign, resulting in a collision.
The report said that Johnson was ejected from the vehicle.
