Police Officer Attacked By Police Dog

A police officer from Grand Island, Nebraska received treatment at St. Francis Medical Center on October 2 for the personal injuries he sustained from being bitten by a police dog.

According to Grand Island Police Captain Pete Kortum, shortly before 5:30 p.m. Officer Eric Javins was with the dog at the Law Enforcement Training Center for the purpose of routine maintenance and training.

Kortum said the dog, a Belgian Malinois, bit Javins on his left hand and right arm.

Kortum said Javins called for ambulance assistance on his own and received transport to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
