A man from Cameron suffered fatal personal injuries on February 13 after the pickup truck he was a passenger in collided with a tree on Hardee Branch Road in West End, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The report filed by Trooper J.B. Stewart says that the crash was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. near Beulah Hill Church Road.

The report said that 30-year-old West End resident Aaron Lee Berry was driving west on Hardee Branch Road in a 1998 GMC pickup truck at an estimated speed of 75 mph when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, veered back across the road, ran off the left side of the road, and collided with a tree.

The passenger in the truck, 28-year-old Howard Shaun Talbert, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Berry received transport to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. His condition was not known.
