According to North Carolina state troopers, alcohol and speed were factors in a wreck in which a 16-year-old girl from Roxboro died and four others suffered personal injuries on October 23.

The driver of a westbound two-door 1994 Ford car on Denny’s Store Road lost control of the vehicle near Lonnie Gentry Road at about 1 a.m., according to troopers. The car ran off the road to the left, hit a ditch, and overturned.

Victoria Elaine Clayton died in the accident. Troopers say she was a passenger in the center of the backseat and was not wearing a seat belt.
