The Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina has seen its fifth traffic fatality in 2010. This Sunday afternoon, a Boone woman riding motorcycles with her husband lost control of her three-wheeled bike on a curve. The deadly motorcycle accident took place near the 277 mile marker, with 58-year-old Judy Ann Auton Hendrix pronounced dead at the scene of crash by emergency workers. Hendrix and her husband lived in Boomer, North Carolina, in Caldwell County.

According to Parkway chief ranger Steve Stinnett, Hendrix was driving on a downgrade and around a curve when the bike tipped and landed on top of her. The NC motorcycle accident is under investigation, though authorities do not believe drugs, alcohol, or speed were factors in the motorbike crash.

The Blue Ridge Parkway spans almost 500 miles across North Carolina and Virginia. The scenic road is also known for its sometimes-dangerous hills and curves.
