A woman from Livingston, Montana has been sentenced to five years probation and a fine of $13,000 in restitution of fraudulent benefits received from cheating the Social Security Administration.

Fifty-nine-year-old Sandra Bowman was sentenced by a federal judge.

According to prosecutors, from late 1989 until early 2004, Bowman was receiving benefits for Social Security disability while claiming to either live alone or with only her child, while she was actually living with her common-law husband.

According to authorities, Bowman was co-mingling money from Social Security as well as other sources in order to cover her and her husband’s living expenses as well as to build a house and develop surrounding acreage.

Bowman entered a guilty plea to wire fraud.
