A Midway High School student had to be placed in intensive care for the personal injuries she sustained in a traffic accident on October 26.
On the morning of the crash, 19-year-old Autryville resident Savannah Blain Howard was driving east on Tyndall Bridge Road near Salemburg when the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet SUV suddenly turned left, directly in front of her.
The passenger in Howard’s 2006 Ford sedan, 16-year-old Clinton resident Samantha Sayborn, was transported to UNC Hospital where she remains in intensive care for the injuries she sustained.
The SUV’s driver, 80-year-old Clinton resident William Harrison Brinkley, was driving west on Tyndall Bridge Road when he suddenly made a left turn directly into Howard’s path. Trooper K.J. Weeks said that he was charged with failure to yield.
