Midway High School Student Airlifted

Shelby Williams, a Midway High School student, was listed in fair condition today after being airlifted to WakeMed on Wednesday.

Williams stopped at the intersection of Hollerin’ Road and U.S. 13 shortly after school turned out for the day.

After stopping, Williams pulled into the intersection in front of a Tahoe driven by Brenda Tart of Plainview. Tart’s son, Christopher Dale Tart was a passenger in her vehicle.

A witness to the accident, Victor Juanez stated Williams failed to look to the left.

Only two feet of skid marks were measured, indicating that Tart was unable to apply brakes until immediately before impact.

Tart and her son were transported to Betsy Johnson Hospital.
