The mayor of Chauncey, Ohio has filed a personal injury suit against her own village.

On October 28, Mayor Ginger Mender filed suit against the nearly 1,000 resident village in Athens County, Ohio Common Pleas Court, alleging that she sustained personal injuries after falling in a hold or rut in an ill-maintained alley on October 29, 2006. She seeks damages in excess of $50,000.

The suit was filed one day before the state’s two-year statute of limitations on personal injury cases expired.

Two former village officials and a property owner accused of badly maintaining the alley in question were named as co-defendants in the suit.
