Massey Energy has settled a lawsuit filed by the family of a contract worker killed at one of the company’s coal mine. The energy company paid the family of the contract worker $2.1 million. Government investigators concluded the Steven Cain, who had just a few months of mining experience, was crushed to death between an under ground railroad car and the wall of the Boone County mine. The branch that Massey Energy owns has had 29 men die at the coal mines.
