Pete DeSouza, an offensive lineman on the Maryland Terrapins football team, will miss the rest of the team’s season after the personal injuries he sustained in a driving accident.
DeSouza was operating a motor scooter on the school’s campus on the night of October 21 when he was struck by a vehicle that was turning left. The redshirt freshman sustained fractured bones in both lowered legs in the crash.
DeSouza was expected to undergo surgery on the following day. He is expected to make a full recovery, but will not be able to play for the remainder of the Terrapins’ season.
Maryland campus police issued the driver of the vehicle that struck DeSouza a traffic citation.
