A man claims he sustained personal injuries outside a Wood River, Illinois bar after being attacked by another intoxicated man.
According to the suit he filed on January 26 in Illinois’ Madison County Circuit Court, Jessie Tatum was attacked by Dustin Suttles after he was served alcohol at Rumor Bar and Grill on January 27, 2008.
Tatum claims the attack caused him to become sick, sore, lame, and disordered, suffer lost earning capacity, and experience pain and suffering.
Tatum, who was also a patron of the bar on the night of the attack, alleges that he also incurred large medical expenses, suffered disability and disfigurement, and sustained property damage.
The suit alleges negligence on the part of Gary R. Layton Jr., Rumor Bar and Grill, and A & G Front Street, all owners and operators of the bar, for failure to properly control a patron’s conduct, allowing an unknown patron to leave the bar in a manner that was violent and abusive, and failure to warn.
Tatum seeks damages in excess of $200,000, plus costs, from the four-count suit.
