A woman suffered fatal personal injuries in a single-vehicle crash on the morning of March 9 approximately two miles south of Laurinburg, the North Carolina Highway Patrol reported.

According to a report filed by Trooper R.C. Carlyle, the crash was reported shortly after midnight on Hasty Road.

The report said that 49-year-old Laurinburg resident Lisa Wilkes Vallandingham was northbound on Hasty Road when her vehicle ran off the road to the right, collided with a mailbox, skidded back onto the road, ran off the road to the left, and overturned.

Vallandingham was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the report.

Vallandingham received transport to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Hello, I just found this article while doing a search for my best friend that I met in grade school & haven't heard from since we were roommates in 1979. Could you please tell me if there's an easy way I can contact her family? I specifically want to touch bases with her brothers Jeffrey McClain Wilkes and/or Chesley Warren Wilkes. This came as such a shock to me & I really would like to make contact with them to get all the details & send my condolinces. I don't have a problem with providing you with my contact info if you are able to forward it on to them for me. Please let me know as soon as possible as I won't be able to be at peace until I speak with them. I thank you in advance for your time. Sincerely, Kim Glass - (408) 561-3786. And again thank you for your time, I pray you will be able to help me reunite with her family at least one last time. Have a great day.
