On May 7, a man from Raleigh’s vehicle ran off the road on Interstate 540 near the intersection of U.S. 264, resulting in personal injuries, according to Knightdale Police Chief Shawn Brown.
Brown said that the driver, 48-year-old Clavin Jackson, received transport from emergency workers to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he has been listed in critical condition.
Police say the crash took place not long after midnight.
According to police, Jackson’s vehicle ran off the future I-540 extension, resulting in it tumbling down a 120 foot embankment into the woods.
Police say the vehicle overturned, ejecting Jackson.
The vehicle came to rest after landing on top of Jackson, pinning him underneath, according to Brown.
The accident remains under investigation.
