A single-car wreck in Johnston County killed a teenage driver upon collision and seriously injured her teenage passenger. The teen driver from Kenly lost control of the SUV she was driving and crashed it into a tree. This Johnston County car accident occurred during the same month that the NC Highway Patrol is rolling out a campaign to spread awareness of teenage drivers’ propensity to speed.
The passenger of the crashed car, Stephanie Heaton, was airlifted to WakeMed and suffered severe injuries. Sarah Earp, the driver of the vehicle, died at the scene of the accident.
The Johnston County car crash occurred the same day as another Moore County crash also involving a teenage driver from Southern Pines who ran off the road and struck a tree.
Investigations are still being made in each crash, but from existing evidence, the surviving passenger in the Johnston County car wreck could pursue compensation against the teenage driver. Her compensation would include medical treatment past and present and any future treatments needed for ongoing conditions, lost income, physical pain and mental suffering, and other losses she may have acquired as a result of the accident injuries.
