According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old woman from Hope Mills suffered fatal personal injuries in a crash on U.S. 301 south of Fayetteville on September 8.

According to a report filed by Trooper James Belcher, Lauren Elizabeth Davis, a 2009 South View High School graduate, died after pulling her 2000 Ford into the path of a Dodge truck driven by 50-year-old Hope Mills resident Tommy Gene Burns at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Davis was attempting to cross into the median to make a left turn when the southbound truck struck her vehicle on the driver’s side, according to the report.

A memorial service and candlelight vigil have been planned for September 14.
