Hillsborough, NC (March 4, 2026) – Three people were hurt on Sunday, March 1, after a hit-and-run crash involving a U-Haul box truck on Interstate 85 near exit 165 in Hillsborough.

According to the Hillsborough Police Department, the accident happened shortly before 10:20 p.m. when the U-Haul struck a Dodge Ram pickup traveling along the interstate. The impact prompted emergency units to respond to the scene to assist those involved.

Authorities reported that three people inside the pickup truck complained of neck pain following the crash. Emergency responders evaluated the occupants at the scene, but none required transport to a hospital.

The U-Haul driver left the area after the collision. Officers with the Hillsborough Police Department later located the vehicle and took the driver into custody. Officials identified the driver as 58-year-old Timothy Leroy Durham. Authorities said he now faces multiple charges related to the incident.
