Goldsboro Accident Claims Life
One person was killed and two others injured in an accident on U.S. Highway 117 near Old Mt. Olive Highway near Goldsboro.
N.C. State Trooper Jason Edwards stated Sheilena Brown of Goldsboro was making a left turn onto Mt. Olive Highway when she lost control and hit a tractor-trailer.
A passenger in Brown’s car, Annette Grantham, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Brown and her daughter, Shakayla James, 2, were transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital.
The passengers in Brown’s vehicle were not wearing seat belts. The child was not properly restrained in a child seat.
Melvin Evans, Jr. of Wilmington was the driver of the truck.
A third vehicle was damaged when the windshield of Brown’s vehicle popped out and hit it.
According to reports, charges are pending.
