We send our best wishes to those injured and hope they recover fully.

Common Causes of Truck Accidents in North Carolina

Speeding is one of the major causes of serious truck accidents in North Carolina. Large trucks require more time and distance to stop. Excess speed can increase impact force and injury risk.

Driver fatigue remains another common factor. Long routes and limited rest breaks can reduce alertness. Slower reactions may prevent drivers from avoiding hazards.

Distraction also contributes to commercial vehicle crashes. Phones and in-cab systems can take attention away from traffic. Brief inattention can lead to severe outcomes.

Improper cargo loading creates stability issues for heavy trucks. Unsecured or uneven loads may shift during travel. This can affect steering and braking control.

Mechanical failures sometimes contribute to these incidents. Worn brakes or tire blowouts can limit a driver’s ability to respond safely. Missed inspections may allow problems to develop.

Blind spots and wide turns add risk on highways and city roads. Large trucks have areas where smaller vehicles are difficult to see. Unsafe merges can result from limited visibility.

Adverse weather conditions can make crashes more likely. Rain and fog reduce traction and sight distance. Heavy vehicles may struggle to stop on wet pavement.

A truck accident lawyer can review driver logs and maintenance records. An attorney may also evaluate insurance coverage and determine who may be legally responsible.
