Four Injured In SUV And Tractor-Trailer Wreck

A mother and her three adult children were injured Thursday night in an accident that occurred on U.S. Hwy. 1 south of Sanford.

Carmen Bonilla and her family were traveling southbound in a SUV, when they hit the rear of a tractor-trailer that had pulled out of a parking lot.

A passenger in the backseat, Eduarda Pleitez-de Bonilla, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially thrown through the windsheild. She received life threatening injuries and was air lifted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

The other occupants in the SUV were treated at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

Aaron Tarlton of Marshville, the driver of the tractor-trailer was treated at the scene.

Carmen Bonilla was charged with failure to reduce speed.
