Fayetteville Police Officer Who Fatally Struck Pedestrian Identified
Fayetteville police have identified the officer who struck a pedestrian with his patrol vehicle, causing fatal personal injuries, on August 15 as Phillip Burlingame. Police would not divulge his age and length of service, however.
The release from the Fayetteville Police Department also said that they determined the identity of the pedestrian. However, they would not release his name until his next of kin had been notified.
Police say the accident took place shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Grove Street near Eastern Boulevard.
The release said Burlingame immediately requested medical assistance, but attempts to revive the man failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Burlingame has been placed on administrative duty until investigations by city police and the Highway Patrol are completed.Post a comment
