North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers reported that one person suffered fatal personal injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Vance County late on May 30.
According to investigators, the man was killed after his sport utility vehicle went too fast around a curve on Brookston Road and struck a ditch. They say he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and was ejected.
Troopers say they believe alcohol and speed to have been factors in the crash.
The identity of the man has yet to be released. He was the lone occupant of the SUV.
