On March 21, an East Carolina University graduate student suffered fatal personal injuries in a wreck in Wilson County, police said.

Police said 24-year-old Ontario, Canada resident Amanda Kelly was traveling east on U.S. Highway 264 shortly before 8:30 a.m. when the 2000 Ford Taurus she was driving ran off the road to the right near Black Creek Road. Investigators believe she overcorrected and the car crossed the median and went into the westbound lanes, were it collided head-on with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 31-year-old Sims resident Johnnie Page III.

Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. Page received transport to Wilson Medical Center and was released after treatment.
