The North Carolina Highway Patrol says that one person suffered fatal personal injuries in a single-vehicle accident on N.C. Highway 97 in Nash Count on the morning of September 8.
According to Sgt. Jeff Gordon, a westbound vehicle ran off the road, collided with a tree, and burst into flames. The driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead.
The identity of the driver was not immediately made available.
The investigation into the accident remains in progress.
