According to authorities, a North Carolina woman whose 1-year-old grandchild sustained personal injuries after being bitten in the face by a pit bull ran a red light while rushing the child to a hospital and died after the vehicle collided with another.
Wilmington police said the child remained in intensive care after the wreck, which occurred on December 5. The bite caused the child to bleed profusely from the face.
The woman has sounded the car’s horn while approaching the red light, but was struck by a van. Police said the car then struck a utility pole.
Authorities did not make the identities of the woman or child available.
The three occupants of the van were not seriously injured.
