Police in Cary arrested 40-year-old Miguel Romero Barajas on June 19 after he allegedly caused an accident in which serious personal injuries were involved and fled the scene.
Police say Barajas caused an accident on Southeast Maynard Road on the afternoon of June 19 and the fled. He was later apprehended by officers who say he reeked of alcohol and was slurring his speech. He refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.
Police charged Barajas with being a habitual impaired driver, violation of probation, driving while impaired, and driving on a revoked license.
A hold has been placed on Barajas by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He has four prior DUI convictions in Wake County alone.
