Two band members have filed suit over the crash in which Tejano star Emilio Navaira III almost died from the personal injuries he sustained.

Daniel Sandoval and Pedro Ramirez filed a personal injury suit against Navaira’s company, Emilio Inc. Navaira, 45, was not personally named as part of the suit.

Sandoval and Ramirez both sustained personal injuries when the band’s tour bus, driven by Navaira, crashed into a set of barrels on the Southwest Freeway in Houston, Texas on March 23.

Navaira was ejected from the vehicle through the windshield, being critically injured. He required two brain surgeries and a procedure to repair a potentially fatal aneurysm on his right lung.

According to Bellaire, Texas police, Navaira’s blood-alcohol content was 0.19, over twice the legal limit of .08.
