Sanford Accident Kills Two
According to the State Highway Patrol, a head-on collision near Sanford on Monday, October 6, resulted in the death of both drivers. Troopers reported that Michael S. Reel of Fayetteville crossed the center line and hit Paul J. Gilmore of Sanford.
There was no indication of alcohol, however, they are waiting for toxicology reports. It remains to be seen what caused the accident if a wrongful death claim would be possible for surviving family members.
According to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, head-on collisions that are "noninterchange, nonjunction crashes" make up nearly 20 percent of fatal crashes. Head-on collisions are commonly traveling at full speed, sometimes speeding, and may hit each other at full force.
