Police said that a 5-year-old girl sustained minor personal injuries after running into a vehicle while crossing Rowan Street near Murchison Road in Fayetteville on the morning of January 21.

The woman who was with the girl, 40-year-old Jacqueline Dennison, was cited for jaywalking, said Fayetteville police spokesman Lt. Chris Davis.

Davis said that shortly before 8 a.m., Dennison and the girl were walking across the road when the accident occurred.

The girl ran ahead of Dennison, hit the side of a car, and bounced off of it, Davis said. The girl’s identity was not made available.
