Raleigh, NC (July 25, 2026) – One person was killed, and several others were injured in a six-vehicle crash on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh on Thursday, July 23. The collision occurred around 1:45 p.m. in front of Duke Health Raleigh.

Investigators said a black Subaru Forester was traveling north when its driver lost control and struck several vehicles. The initial contact pushed a blue Honda CR-V into oncoming traffic, where it collided head-on with a red Nissan Altima and a white Dodge Journey.

The Subaru continued forward, clipping a gray Fiat 500 and sideswiping a blue Hyundai Sonata before coming to a stop.

Emergency units arrived shortly after the crash was reported and assisted the drivers and passengers. Crews transported the Subaru driver to WakeMed Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Several other drivers were taken to hospitals with injuries described as minor to moderate. Their names, ages, and current medical status have not been released.

Crews removed several damaged vehicles before reopening Wake Forest Road to traffic.

The Raleigh Police Department continues to investigate what caused the six-vehicle collision.
