Paralegal Volunteers With $800K Diabetes Research Fundraiser
Posted on Apr 22, 2015
Earlier this month more than 400 people gathered at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh for the Hope Gala. The Hope Gala is a black-tie fundraising event coordinated by JDRF in efforts to raise money for junior diabetes research and treatments. Those who attended enjoyed cocktails, a gourmet meal, and entertainment throughout the night.
Wendie, one of the Social Security Disability paralegals from our injury firm's Raleigh branch, volunteered at the event with her son Thomas. The event's emcee was local TV newscaster Debra Morgan from WRAL. Wendie and her son got to meet Debra during the event (pictured right). Along with their efforts and the generous work of other volunteers and donors, more than $800,000 was raised in one night. JDRF raises hundreds of millions of dollars annually to fund scientific research in over a dozen countries.
