World Marathon Record Holder Attacked By Dog During Training

British athlete Paula Radcliffe has sustained personal injuries after being bitten by a dog during a training run in Monaco.

The damage to the calf of the 37-year-old world marathon record holder required treatment at a hospital.

Radcliffe said that as she was running, the dog’s owner, an older gentleman, was unable to control the dog. She said she was standing still when the attack occurred.

The unfortunate incident is not the first to happen to the world champion runner.

In 2003, Radcliffe sustained serious injuries on a training run when a child on a bike sent her crashing to the ground. Five years later, a spider bite disrupted her training a month before the Beijing Olympics.
