Woman's Leg Nearly Amputated In Wilson Crash

On May 4, a woman suffered severe personal injuries in a collision between a car and an 18-wheeler in Wilson. Witnesses said the woman appeared to be nearly amputated on one leg.

The woman was driving a green Mercedes that collided with an 18-wheeler on Highway 58 near Patrick Lane and Fairfield Dairy Road. The truck's driver was uninjured.

The woman was pinned in her vehicle and had to be extracted by use of the "jaws of life."

The woman left the scene in an ambulance and was later flown to Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Troopers said the woman, whose identity was not immediately made available, was believed to be at fault.
